ROCK IN RIO 1985  2ND NIGHT

 2 CDR
Label: Not on label.
Country: Japan, as far as I know.
Released: February 2020.
Recorded: Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 19th January 1985.
Sound: I guess very good, but not sure. I will believe this sound comes from a pro-filmed video of the concert. I'm not really sure how good the sound is. The video copy is more than less a raw copy. It was shown on early UK Fan Club conventions.
Comments:  From the last concert of the festival 'Rock In Rio' from 1985. Queen was the headliner on 11th & 18th January. But, since they entered the scene after midnight, the dates are often marked January 12th. and 19th, which actually is correct.
This 2cdr bootleg is made for a "free bonus" gift with more properly produced Queen bootlegs. But it is also sold separately.

Both concert was professional filmed & multi track recorded. A 60 minute VHS video was released worldwide later that year, with a mix of songs from both dates.
Roots:
Time: 53:56 / 58:21

South America loved QUEEN enthusiastically alongside Japan. A live album where you can experience the last night on site is the gift release decision.
It was 35 years ago that this work was recorded. "Performance in Rio de Janeiro on January 19, 1985". It is an audience recording that contains the site of the famous giant event "ROCK IN RIO" in history. Speaking of "ROCK IN RIO", it became the official work "LIVE IN RIO" and is famous for the booing incident. However, that is the story of the first day, "January 12". QUEEN has appeared in two performances on “ROCK IN RIO”, and the site of this work is the second performance one week after the incident (“LIVE IN RIO” also uses a take on 19th.).
At that time, there were plenty of other memorial events, such as South Africa performance bashing, the last Japanese performance, and “LIVE AID”. First, let's look back on that flow and check the position of the show.

● 1984
<< Release of "THE WORKS" on February 27 >>
・ August 24-September 30: Europe (23 performances)
・ Oct 5-20: South Africa (9 performances)
● 1985
・ January 11 + 18: ROCK IN RIO (2 performances) ← ★ coco ★
・ April 13-29: Oceania (9 performances)
・ May 8-15: Japan (5 performances)
・ July 13: LIVE AID

This is QUEEN of 1984/1985. After returning to the road two years after "HOT SPACE TOUR", he performed a big performance from around the world after performing in South Africa. As if fleeing the woes, we crossed over to South America, a parent QUEEN area. At this time, it was not a tour but only "ROCK IN RIO" 2 performances, and this work is the last night.
This work that conveys such a show is a real vintage audience. As is expected, there is only a huge venue and the distance can not be denied, and the master freshness is average. Although it is not a type that promotes "sound board" or "excellent", it is also easy to listen to.
The performances and Freddie's vocabulary that penetrate the space are clear rather than recordings that suffer from noise. The excitement of Freddie, who witnessed a large crowd, which is said to be 250,000, is clearly apparent, and the rhythm roars violently but never roars. Moreover, the core becomes stronger and more vivid toward the second half. Certainly, it may be necessary to get used to Odins a little, but if you are used to it, it is a sound that can be completely immersed.

On top of that, the point of this work is the breath of the real scene. If you've watched other live shots from LIVE IN RIO, you'll probably remember the audience noise swirling loudly, but it's definitely fake. As you can see from the other band's "ROCK IN RIO" footage, it is a whistling that repeats a loud cheer of one pattern probably because of South American work that was not yet rocked, and there is no distinction between playing and songs Has no presence. It was just “noise”. On the other hand, this work is 100% authentic authentic. You listen carefully during the performance, and the joy comes out like a geyser between songs.
Of course, the clapping is also synchronized with the beat, and the vast number of hit songs also exudes vast harmony. And it is also clever. Even in "LIVE IN RIO", the great chorus of "Love Of My Life" was impressive, but when you stand in the middle of the scene, the excitement is once again. Furthermore, great chorus often occurs in other songs. Both "Somebody To Love", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Bohemian Rhapsody". And "I Want To Break Free". "LIVE IN RIO" also used the second performance take, which is very wonderful. This song was a symbol of openness and freedom for Brazilians who have suffered a military dictatorship, but it is painfully transmitted. In LIVE IN RIO, only rust was mixed (it was impressive by itself), but the scene was never that far. I can't see the audience from this work, but I must be singing with big tears.

The delight continues to the last minute. After "God Save The Queen", the theme song of the festival will be played as the venue BGM, but the excited audiences will also sing. And one impressed audience screams "ROCK IN RIO !!"
You can understand the feeling of QUEEN only after you have enjoyed it in full, and because you have experienced with them.

January 19, 1985 was special for QUEEN and South America. Later on, "Rock in Rio Blues" was recorded in the single "A Winter's Tale", which shows the depth of my feelings, but this work is a live album that allows you to experience the night on site. Brazil is a pro-QUEEN country that is said to be even in Japan, but has not had as many opportunities as Japan. The full show is so touching and even refreshing that dryness is a delight and wash away everything. Please fully enjoy this opportunity.
